By the time Swimming Feeling, the new album from Seth Engel’s Options, reaches the point of it’s slinking finale, we’re fully engrained in his world, with slow drawn guitar buzz, rhythms that are always locked into service of the songs themselves, and a forlorn sense of melancholy feeling almost second nature.

The ever prolific musician, producer, all around swell fella is set to release his latest Options gem, Window’s Open, due out October 23rd. It’s another brilliantly somber record that blends intricate songwriting with a lo-fi warble that washes over Engel’s technicality like a blanket of accessibility.

In an unprecedented move, Chicago’s Options are sharing a remix of their song “Faster” before we’ve heard “Faster” in its original form. Its full of intrigue and mystery. While the source material is set to arrive on the latest Options album, Wind’s Gonna Blow, due out May 22nd, the remix is here and ready.

Pacific Notion, released back in 2017, found Seth Engel reinventing a selection of Options’ songs with a synthetic and electronic beauty, void of his usual rock band formation. Two years later, he’s at it again with Pacific Notion II, a project that finds Engel diving headfirst into the digital world with blissful results.
