Options - "Faster" (Remix) | Post-Trash Premiere

FASTER REMIX(1).jpg

In an unprecedented move, Chicago’s Options are sharing a remix of their song “Faster” before we’ve heard “Faster” in its original form. It’s almost like one of those chicken or the egg kinda scenarios, and its full of intrigue and mystery. While the source material is set to arrive on the latest Options album, Wind’s Gonna Blow, due out May 22nd, the remix is here and ready, a reimagining of a song we can only thus far imagine. The always prolific Seth Engel, the mastermind of Options (as well as a member of Nature’s Neighbor, Pyramid Scheme, Coaster, etc) is reveling in a unique roll out with his project’s sixth full length, the only songs released so far courtesy of live sessions… and now a pre-emptive remix.

Without any preview of the original, the “Faster” remix roars open with a shoegaze blanket of processed guitars and synth, a sound that really permeates your eardrums with a welcome hum, joined by Engel’s slightly warped vocals and dreamy sense of melody. It’s all pretty got dang gorgeous, that fog of sound dropping in and out, as the beat drips merrily along, accentuating the warm vocal line when the swarming wall of sound recedes. By the hook, the sound swells and breaks into a chopped radiation, dragging the melodic noise through a bumpy path, and giving everything space to coalesce in its own time. Consider us eager to hear the album version.
