Set in the woods of Harvey’s hometown of Dorset, I Inside The Old Year Dying constructs a folk-horror universe with the assistance of longtime collaborators, Flood and John Parish. PJ Harvey - "B-Sides, Demos & Rarities" | Album Review
Despite her prolific output, the PJ Harvey archives still boast plenty of rare and previously unreleased material to spare, enough to fill the 6xLP box set. PJ Harvey - "White Chalk" [Reissue] | Album Review
What was most surprising about White Chalk on its original release was its sound. Harvey’s guitar and classic vocal style are almost completely absent from the album. A shift to piano, an instrument that was relatively new to her, as her main compositional tool seemed to reset her compositional style.
PJ Harvey - "Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea" [Reissue] | Album Review
When Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea arrived in 2000, it did so as the nexus of any number of narratives that had been building to that point. For all of the believers, it was Harvey’s first really “mature” album, the apex of her ability as a songwriter, wherein all the shadow and sex of her music finally erupted into defiant Y2K apocalypticism.
