Listening to Space and Time: Lia Kohl’s Normal Sounds | Feature Interview

There is a constant symphony of anthropogenic sounds surrounding us, swaying to the wind’s rhythm. Chicago cellist and composer Lia Kohl is fascinated with these ephemeral clouds of noise, embracing and investigating them in her solo work, especially on her new record Normal Sounds.

Out This Week | Post-Trash Highlights

A weekly post highlighting but a few of our favorite new releases in splendid alphabetical order, brief and (hopefully) informative. There’s a lot of great music out every week and these are but some of the many we think you should check out.

ALBUM OF THE WEEK: Fake Fruit - "Mucho Mistrust"

ALBUM OF THE WEEK: Fake Fruit - "Mucho Mistrust"

They set the bar high with their 2021 self-titled debut and, to nobody’s surprise, they’ve cleared that bar. The new record sounds like a more organic whole from a band who has grown together, feeding each other’s strengths and challenging themselves to be more.

Holiday Music - "Drinking Smoking Eating Red Meat" Video | Post-Trash Premiere

The 333 opener is sparse but twisted, a song slowed as though it was recorded on warped tape. While it would seam the least likely track on Holiday Music's EP to get a video, sure enough, it now has an incredible new animated video courtesy of the one and only James Roo (Neckbolt).

Champion is a record you'll want to listen to over and over. It’s packed with infectious sing-songy vocals, jagged instrumentals, and warm vibes. Ragnhild Fangel Jamtveit has described it as the album where Pom Poko has matured. New life experiences, such as parenthood, shape Champion into the magical experience that it is.

Lifeguard on Hallogallo Zine: The Radical-Youth-Punk Chronicler | Feature Interview

Lifeguard on Hallogallo Zine: The Radical-Youth-Punk Chronicler | Feature Interview

Hallogallo is a cipher to Chicago’s teen-beat youth revolution. Within its pages, legends the likes of NEU!’s Michael Rother and Stereolab’s Laetitia Sadier mingle with mutual aid placements and essays on leftist history. The zine is electric with serendipity, where Kai Slater’s artistic personal tastes and friendships merge with open submissions.

Winter - " ...And She's Still Listening" | Album Review

Winter claims the lyrics within ...and she's still listening are written from a perspective of a female character that she considers an “extension of her,” an exploratory writing process that could be seen as a unique tool to translate a continued healing journey from the subconscious. Winter leaves listeners to sink into honest emotion.
