The Los Angeles quintet has created a lush mix of shoegaze, krautrock, noise pop, and everything else that is both hazy and dreamy. Dummy take an almost meditative drift toward motorik composition, easing their way into swells of minimalist layering, vocals that blend together, and grandoise blankets of noise.
Half a year later and the band are sharing a video from the album for “Broken Computer,” one of the album’s many highlights. Directed by James Wells, it’s a vibrant animation that picks up on much of the single’s own tension, as globs of paint mutate and shift from human to other with broad strokes of color and wormholes.
London’s Modern Technology have started a new record label, Human Worth, and they’re set to launch with an eponymous compilation, Human Worth Vol. 1. The collection revels in a particular brand of explosive sludge and primal noise rock, the sound that seems to ooze from the UK underground in abundance.
Attic Salt Records is a new label based out of Chicago with a focus on artists and charity. As a “benefit” label, the proceeds of their releases are all being given to charities as selected by the musicians they are working with. Compilation 1, includes Geronimo!, Stuck, Sunny Falls, Options, Thanks For Coming, Nate Amos, Gilt Drip, and more.
After a set of promising EPs and singles released last year, the band are ready to share their full length debut, My Other Shirt Is — Actually Never Mind, It’s The Shirt I Have On Here., due out this coming Friday, May 1st. With eight of the eleven tracks clocking in under a minute (the other three not extending much past that), it’s a quick listen.

For the past decade Samuel Rich (Miniboone, Bully Mammoth) has been playing varying styles of noisy rock from groovy post-punk to psychedelic noise rock. With his first solo album, he’s offering a change of pace and a wealth of atmosphere. Trading in his trusty bass for an organ, his solo debut Organ Versions, is due out April 21st.
The Marquette, Michigan based duo have their sophomore EP, Stunted, coming out on April 21st via Temporal Records. The record is an optimistic look at the love found in the familiar. After moving out West and grasping to find community, all it took was a return home to prove that sometimes home truly is where the heart is.

With dread and despair all around, “Vis-A-Vis,” the album’s opener takes a lighter approach and gives us the post-punk anthem we can all dance around our homes to. With a tightly coiled rhythm section and guitars that pay homage to Gang of Four’s early years, SAVAK have created a song bursting with subdued energy
Grizzlor breathe new life into their single with a new music video directed by John Mohr. The intensity of the song is captured in a live performance, caught in a claustrophobic garage like practice space. The walls aren’t exactly closing in, but the strobe effect and multi-colored lighting certainly make it feel like something alien is occurring.
Set for release on various formats, the lead single, “Irma,” is short and sweet, a lo-fi post-punk track that sounds nasty and immediate. With shattering cymbal crashes and a noisy din, the fifty second track is takes rawness to heart, with a recorded din and sonic pallet that most would never attempt, but then again, most are not Dog Park.
