A Tribute to Ex-Breathers | A Post-Trash Farewell
We all miss Ex-Breathers. In four short years the Tallahassee trio managed to capture the best of punk, hardcore, post-hardcore, and noise rock, condensing into one brutal ball of aggression. The band's music was angry yet concerned, harsh but cathartic, and free of limits and any genre restrictions. On top of all that, David Settle, Jack Vermillion, and Adam Berkowitz are three of the sweetest and most upstanding people you can ever hope to meet. It's all part of the magic that make Ex-Breathers such an important band. We gathered some thoughts from friends, peers, and those who have worked together with them over the years, but let this be a "living" tribute.
POST-TRASH'S BEST OF 2015 | Staff Picks
While the main "Year in Review" feature was picked entirely by Post-Trash editors, we wanted to give all of our contributors a chance to pick their favorite releases, regardless if the records would be something covered here on our site or not. Every contributor was able to pick their personal top 20 records of the year and points were assigned based on rank. Our contributors' tastes range a bit wider than that of our editors, but the connection to this particular site becomes abundantly clear as the numbers unfold. We're happy to present the Post-Trash "Top 30 Albums of 2015: Staff Picks", as voted by the entire team
POST-TRASH'S BEST OF 2015 | The Year In Review
Welcome to the first annual Post-Trash "Year In Review" a look back at the year that was and all of our favorite music that was released during it. We've only been a website for about four months, but it's been a great start and luckily, we've been listening to music all year long. Let this be your guide (it's bookmark-able) to not only reconnect with your personal favorites but more importantly to discover something new.
Ex-Breathers - "Past Tense" | Album Review
It's a stomping album that sits at the three-way intersection of post-punk, hardcore punk, and math-rock. The metallic and riff-heavy elements of their 2012 LP Collision have been toned down in favor of a tighter noise-meets-hardcore dynamic. Past Tense documents a band that successfully evolved their sound without losing the aggression and dynamic songwriting that initially set them apart from more traditional hardcore artists.
