The Big Them - "Yellow" | Post-Trash Premiere

by Pat Pilch (@apg_gomets)

The Big Them brings together the best of the UK noise rock vanguard. Containing members of Mums, Irk, and Careering, The Big Them are not fucking around with their physical, volatile, and heavy-ass approach to acidic punk. The band of seasoned noise veterans possess an inherent sense of melodic understanding and instrumental control, making this ostensible supergroup of fringe DIY musicians far more potent than a mere “one-off.”

Today, Post-Trash is thrilled to premiere the lead single “Yellow” from The Big Them’s upcoming EP Four Colours. A pressure cooker of a track, “Yellow” kicks off with a mercurial mix of jagged guitars and probey, racist questions from a spoken-word narrator. “How do you get your hair like that? / You speak English very well / You sound like you are from here.” These words are clearly critical of the overwhelmingly xenophobic and fascist slant the West has fully and openly adopted in recent years. “Yellow” is a cutting track that blows its lid come the chorus, containing an antifascist sentiment that has unfortunately become ever so relevant.

Four Colours is out via Buzzhowl Records on April 24. Listen to “Yellow” below and punch a Nazi today:
