Minneapolis' Pat Keen is no stranger to the road. He's toured with Wei Zhongle, Guerilla Toss, and Ryan Power in the past, but starting in February, Keen is headed out on his own in support of last summer's terrific Albatross album. His sophomore album positioned him among the psych folk elite, a wondrous record of warm bedroom pop and Americana experimentation that defied expectations with it's sincere resolve. Ahead of Keen's month long tour, he's sharing a new single and video, the comforting "Screens," featuring vocal accompaniment by Adelyn Strei.
The Jesse Johnson directed video, which opens with a dizzying look around the room, is as minimal as they come. Capturing Keen and Strei in a nicely sunlight room, the simplicity of the clip would make your standard performance video seem busy and spastic. Lending an easy going ambiance to "Screens" gentle beauty, the camera cuts between the pair, capturing each soft strum and gorgeous vocal harmony in expressionless glory. Keen's lyrics become the focus, a vague look into the nature of wandering minds and indecision. James Taylor never did it like this. It's really quite beautiful.
