Dusk is an alt-country band from Appleton, Wisconsin that write dynamic pop music with a heavy dose of New Orleans' soul and front-porch Americana exuberance. Led by Tenement's Amos Pitsch, the songs on Dusk's debut single "(Do The) Bored Recluse b/w Too Sweet" are far from punk, opting for piano and pedal steel "shredding" in place of anything loud and distorted. Joined by a cast of exceptional musicians, Pitsch and company head for deep country territory, embracing the sound full-on without hesitation. We're excited to share the exclusive music video premiere of "Too Sweet," the singles' b-side, shot and edited by Finn Bjornerud. The song features an undeniably soulful vocal performance from Julia Blair, as she croons with a scorned confidence, pushing for hasher realities as she sings "all the things you’ve done for him, now, they’re too sweet." While upbeat and full of jangly soul, the sentiment of the song is further accentuated by Dusk's gang harmonies... "did you ever find out about the whispering". Times change, relationships end, take it a from a friend. You're not alone and there's hope yet.
Dusk's sound is the rock and roll of an earlier era, a time where musicianship and clarity reigned supreme as production methods were an after thought to genuine songwriting. A time when sultry country twang could provide the perfect soundtrack to a drunken saloon dust-up or your next joyous hootenanny. No matter the occasion, the easy going vibes of Dusk's big soul country tunes don't concern themselves with trends, their vision is clear and their execution is impeccable. The spirit of punk may be alive in Dusk, but their home-cooked country-fried roots shall overcome.
