OTOBO’s doomer-prog ticks like a time bomb, and “iOpen” is a pressure gauge steady in the red. The opening cut from Inside Machine sets the tone for the Albany three-piece’s white-hot motorik punk. Today, we’re thrilled to premiere the ad-spliced, nature-prefaced video for “iOpen.”
There’s something urgent and simmering beneath the surface of OTOBO’s grooves—an urgency given away by the project’s hyper awareness of everything fucked. It’s nearly impossible to not be pessimistic nowadays, but OTOBO always offer a shred of optimism, a brightness often founded in humanity. On “iOpen”—and across Inside Machines—OTOBO remind listeners that even if we’re fucked, at least we’re not alone.
