Touch Girl Apple Blossom - "The Springtime Reminds Me Of..." | Post-Trash Premiere

by Dan Goldin (@paintingwithdan)

Touch Girl Apple Blossom have come to jangle their way into our hearts like a ray of Austin sunshine. Nearly three years after the release of their exceptional debut EP (seriously, go check out “Things We Rehearse”), the band are set to return with Graceful, their first full length album. Due out on May 15th via the ever winning team of Perennial and K Records (Sharp Pins, Feeling Figures, Hartle Road), the album is a brilliant display of up-beat exuberance, power-pop resonance, and towering hooks that seems melt into your memory like ice cream falling on the hot sidewalk. There’s a sense of rippling energy in the band’s fuzzy lo-fi splendor, embracing big guitar jangle and psychedelic pop without the indifference that all too often comes with it.

On a record where damn near any of the songs could be a single, “The Springtime Reminds Me Of…” serves as our introduction to the album, a song that energetically bounces around sweet melodies, a subtle hiss, and an even more subtle twang. Much like the title, it feels somewhat like the first nice day after a cold winter, a reminder that “the world keeps turning” and nothing lasts forever. With the glow of power-pop chord progressions and a general ease, Touch Girl Apple Blossom transform what could be run of the mill into something special, their playing really giving the entire recording a glow as they ramble onward in a song that’s built on joyous momentum. Check out the James Frank directed video below, as well as the band’s upcoming tour dates with Good Flying Birds.
