Tedward - "Floater" | Album Review

by Seth Daspit (@ssethate_hair)

Tedward is the brainchild of Cincinnati via Connecticut’s Terence Lee, shouldering influences from bands like Ovlov and Yuck. Lee has recently released Floater – a seven song record – through I’m Into Life Records, an L.A.-based label sporting artists such as Fraternal Twin and Jolee Gordon. Floater is full of sun-soaked, exciting songwriting, all within short runtimes. There is a modest aura around the fuzz-orientated production and something uplifting about Lee’s singing.

“Shooting Star” is an orchestra of fuzz pop. Lee’s voice swoons like a waterslide built from melody. The abrupt drum fill to begin the song swifts through the first half-second – fitting for energy and precision – and ironic for the band being a seemingly close-cousin to slacker-rock. “Keep it Moving” has a drone part for the ages – Lee’s voice echoing alongside chorused single notes could embody a canyon. “Spencer Dr” showcases the double relationship of riff and beat in a magnetic sense.

Remember the name Tedward.
