Changing is the garage power-pop correspondence project of Greg Katz (Cheekface, LA Font) and Taleen Kali (Tulips) that was initially started in 2016, only to be interrupted by the loss of a laptop that was pilfered and restarted at a safe distance during the current pandemic craziness. “Not a Citizen” is a charging powerhouse of a song with rolling drum work and popping bass propping up Kali’s enthusiastically forceful vocals accompanied by chiming and soaring guitar solos leading into an abrupt ending.
“Damage Prone” has Katz and Kali showing off a more dramatic and in your face approach with Kali’s vocals proving incisive and biting over a lively glam-punk jamboree of a backing. Both songs are earworms of epic proportions and are a wonderful example of what true punk pop craftsmanship is all about. This single is a powerful showcase of two musicians that know how to craft a hook while also showcasing an intelligent and spell-binding ability to thoughtfully articulate the world around them in all it’s ugliness and glory.
