With a strong cult following the moment they stepped out of the gates, Melbourne's Dr Sure's Unusual Practice carry a politically-charged ethos that is equally defining as inspiring. Beginning as the side project of artist Dougal Shaw, Dr Sure's emerged fully formed in 2019 alongside their debut album The West. Served in the form of oscillating, feverish post-punk, the record was so current and needed - a slap in the face to Australia's political climate; to those that perhaps didn't engage in the politics of their country enough.
“Super Speedy Zippy Whipper” is the band's first single from their 7" EP Remember The Future? Vol 1 - out via Marthouse Records on April 10th. There's no shortage of angular guitar riffs, a tight rhythm section, supplementary synth lines - all allowing Shaw's knack for vocal melodies to shine through. It's a track "about living in a fast-paced 21st century society with outside forces dictating your every move". Clocking in just under two minutes it is brief, but it's satisfying - more reason to hit the repeat button.
