On the new video to Crown Larks' track “The Timebound Bloos” from their most recent LP Blood Dancer, a 40-minute free jazz krautrock freakout, the band explores the bizarre acid trip of being a human child in the snow and learning to deal with nature and people. The video is grainy, frantic, and overwhelming, mirroring the song’s trajectory through both abrasive and psychedelic sounds. It’s never quite clear which images are superimposed on which in the video and while there is a narrative of an older woman thinking back on the strangeness of childhood, the video’s strongest as a Gestaltian piece, disorienting as the process of being young and learning how the world works.
