Western Massachusetts’ very own Bucket are back with their first new music since 2017’s excellent Bouquet, announcing a suite of EPs and releasing the new track “Good Intentions”.
Although its been 13 long years, “Good Intentions” finds Will Meyer and the gang in as fine a form as ever, with their distinctly winsome homespun grunge here taking a delightful left turn into almost singalong territory. New for Bucket, steel guitar makes an appearance midway through, and the track coalesces into something of a rollicking Americana groove. As always, Meyer’s heady lyrics focus on what its like to live in the Century of American Humiliation, and the various indignities of our techo-slopcracy. Here, there is mediation is on the un-intimacy and mundanity of digital existence.
“They say that good intentions are good intentions, and that’s all they are. Good intentions are good intentions, they only get you so far .” Thats right, and I’ll be there singing along, happy to have Bucket back.
Bucket’s new EP Beyond The Pail will be out July 17th via Sad Cactus, and a followup ep Buy Now, Pay Later will be out in September. Bucket will be playing Sad Cactus Summerfest at ERF World on July 17th, with more tour dates to follow.
