As if there weren’t enough Chicago projects to be excited about, Neptune’s Core demand your attention. The harmony-heavy four piece have a bit of a “your favorite band’s favorite band” reputation in the Windy City, and we could not be more excited to be premiering their latest single and video “Lemon Car.”
Neptune’s Core’s latest single has a bit of everything, holding on to elements of classic alternative through strong hooks and dynamic songwriting for a sound that feels only increasingly “Midwest” in the context of the greater Chicago scene. While sisters Sofie and Hannah Richter, and sisters Jackie and Kaitlin Cywinski cite David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, and Nina Simone as influences, they also mention the impact of the city’s music community. Welcoming, all-ages spaces and a rich, supportive network of excellent bands have been pivotal in Neptune’s Core’s burgeoning career.
Neptune’s Core have a couple dates on the horizon, including a sold out show with Twin Peaks at Thalia Hall later this month. Be on the lookout for more gigs as their announced, and listen to “Lemon Car” below:
