Cleveland punks Suitor carry the post-punk torch of Rock n’ Roll City, USA. Their 2020 debut Communion, which was reissued in 2021, is an intense, esoteric exercise in melancholic art punk. Today, Suitor announce Saw You Out in the Weeds, their Feel It Records debut. Post-Trash is excited to be premiering the record’s stunning lead single “Factory.”
While Communion’s melodies were often clouded in a soft haze, Saw You Out in the Weeds takes a straight-to-the-dome approach, creating a wall-of-sound effect that feels more confident and direct. The melodies are strong with this one, as these songs get a pop from being recorded live with Caufield Schnug and Lira Mondal of Sweeping Promises. On “Factory,” Post-Trash alum Emma Shepherd takes the chorus to new heights. It’s like if the Go-Go’s never heard FM radio and traded Venice Beach for Headland Dunes.
