“The Medium is the Message,” and Understanding made a movie for “Flesh is Word.” The lead single from the band’s upcoming debut the joy of living is presented as hot media in two senses of the word; moving images and sonic playback. Sit back and relax, active readers. Come in from the cold, and let the sights and sounds happen to you.
Understanding’s Shmutz-directed video for “Flesh is Word” captures the Toronto four-piece in reflections, on a jungle gym, and along the shore. It’s an easy, breezy, keys-forward number that one could describe as “slacker-ish,” but Understanding do have a whole record on the way, which doesn’t sound very “slacker-ish” to me.
