Lyris Faron is Talulah Paisley. The T-Rextasy lead’s excellent solo debut is out June 30th and today, we’re thrilled to be premiering Fool’s second single “Slink.”
Talulah Paisley’s music is as familiar as it is alien and “Slink”—especially in the context of Fool—is remarkably distinct. The track finds Faron disconnected from her desires, searching for truth in the awkward, painful, exhausting, and funny moments of intimacy. “Yeah, you know I would die for you,” she croons on the chorus, “Yeah, if you go down, I would, too/Oh, my dear body/Why don't you know what you want?”
Paisley’s wonky-pop influences are clear but by the time the track breaks down, Faron makes “Slink” completely her own. Featured back-up vocalists Katie Von Schleicher and Frankie Cosmos’ Greta Kline and Alex Bailey support Paisley’s brilliantly loosey-goosey vocal delivery, as “Slink” is an excellent second helping from their upcoming LP.
Fool is out June 30th via Ducky Collection and People’s Coalition of Tandy. “Slink” is out 5/9, but stream early below:
