Phil Spector's Gun - "Benadryl Dreams" | Post-Trash Premiere

by Pat Pilch (@apg_gomets)

“Absurd is the word, ya heard?” Philadelphia’s Phil Spector’s Gun are as silly as they are intense. Their tongue-in-cheek songwriting is sharp and vulnerable as the band embrace a deadpan irony with record titles like Highway 61 Exploded! and double b side. Today, Post-Trash is thrilled to premiere “Benadryl Dreams,” another double-A b-side from the PSG universe.

Recorded by Dan Angel (nyxy nyx, Sun Organ), “Benadryl Dreams” finds the six-piece garage-punk project half-locked into an over-the-counter unreality. Phil Spector’s Gun lead Kevin Brusha floats between solo-laden verses and a dynamic, floating chorus. “There’s nothing humble about my opinions,” he howls, “My pulse slows like a broken clock.”

“Benadryl Dreams” arrives with a crushing cover of Neil Young’s “Needle and the Damage Done” from 1972’s Harvest. Check out “Benadryl Dreams” below and catch Phil Spector’s Gun on tour this spring and summer.
