Out This Week | Post-Trash Highlight

As we all head into the weekend, we’re happy to share a few of our favorite new releases, out this week (in splendid alphabetical order). The write-ups are all kept brief and bite sized, snippets to catch your interest. There’s a lot of great music out every week and these are just some of the many we think you should check out.

ARSE | "Complete Arse"

Sydney punk trio ARSE have collected all their releases to date on the fantastically named Complete Arse. Compiled in chronological order, it's a treat to hear the band's raw and noisy take on chain punk, ripping with a very Australian garage punk swagger. The songs feel a bit like being three sheets to wind and looking for trouble, but in a positive way.

BOLDY JAMES & REAL BAD MAN | "Conversational Pieces"

Ever the prolific MC, Boldy James is back with Conversational Pieces, his sixth record of 2025, a new full length collaboration with the LA based producer Real Bad Man. This one feels cut different, Boldy's verses are extra inspired, his street tales as gritty as ever, but his flow is given a range of tremendously dynamic beats to dissect and deconstruct (see "Cutthroats").

ESTHER ROSE | "Want"

New West Records

Esther Rose's fifth album, Want, seems to expand the singer/songwriter's music into more of a widescreen presentation. The songs are more muscular and the compositions more dynamic, but at the core remains Rose's intimate and introspective lyrics. There's a confessional quality to it all, often feeling like you're catching up with an old friend.

PACO CATHCART | "Down On Them"

After a decade of releases as The Cradle, Brooklyn's Down On Them is Paco Cathcart's first album under their own name. It's a gorgeous record full of layered folk ideas and songs that bend but never break. Dreamy but focused, Cathcart and co. spent their time in the studio to sharpen harmonies and soften textures, a respite from the hustle of the city around them.

THANYA IYER | "TIDE/TIED"

Thanya Iyer continues to expand her experimental pop on her latest album TIDE/TIED, a record that blurs lines between jazzy soul, gentle bedroom pop, and ambient textures. The Montreal based songwriter feels like a rare comfort in trying times, blissful and meditative, the songs unfolding with a serene grace.
