Tlooth - “Too Calm” | Post-Trash Premiere

by Pat Pilch (@apg_gomets)

Reading punks Tlooth operate at odds. The Pennsylvanian outfit’s 2023 EP offered an energetic introduction to their noise-spliced art punk, but their 2024 single “Capsize” signaled their impending reinvention, one of melody, restraint, and a bit more cohesion to their reinvigorated push-pull formula. Today, we’re premiering the leadoff cut “Too Calm” from their self-titled full length, an immediately gripping opener for fans of Sonic Youth, early Polvo and finding the hook-in-the-hubbub.

Tlooth’s self-titled cassette will be released via Strange Mono, a Philadelphia based benefit label where 100% of proceeds go to a cause of the artist’s choosing. Believers in prison abolition, Tlooth is directing proceeds towards Phillips Black, a non-profit public interest law practice dedicated to providing legal aid to incarcerated individuals, particularly those facing the severest penalties under US law.

Be on the lookout for Tlooth’s self-titled full length on May 9. In the meantime, check out “Too Calm” below.
