With a history of solid independent releases, Snoozer stays true to DIY roots by collaborating with Pennsylvania labels like Julia's War Records and, most recently, PA's Born Losers Records for their 2025 October release Little Giants. Formed in 2007, Snoozer have consistently experimented with their sound, which could be a reason Little Giants may be considered a staple album for all generations of indie sub-cultures. An airy ambiance is carried throughout the tracks by the EP's nostalgic synth, fuzzy guitar slides, and light-hearted take on the endless life changing cycles of good and bad.
Little Giants’ bouncy single “Just Sayin” debuted the EP perfectly as it encompasses the carefree tone of all four tracks without lyrically leaving out the expressed importance of “Facing yourself and acknowledging the good and bad and accepting what you are actually are.” Bright riffs, light acoustic plucks and the song's poppy melody were enough to create enthusiasm towards the rest of the EP.
Leadoff track “Smile Thru The Pain” accompanies the vibe of “Just Sayin,” sharing the promise of adventure within the upbeat and confident vocals. “Pain” speaks of emotional drainage, preparation of inevitable life discourse, and decisions that cut like knives, but the light keys provide a soft pillow to cry into.
The last half of the EP leaves us with folky leaning tracks. “Winter Beach” is a standout, finally completed after ten years, with Tom & Mike Kelly finding the courage to release it into the world. Ending track “Little Giants” is an intimate song about honesty, forgiveness, the desire to feel whole, and the enlightening realization that being on our own is a strength rather than a result of failure.
Most tracks within Little Giants are three minutes minimum, but listeners will always be pleading for more Snoozer as the riffs could go on for many more measures without complaint. Snoozer’s ability to express vulnerability and humility with transparency allows us to intimately connect to our true selves, which is admirable in a society overwhelmed by social media. Listen to the hits of Little Giants and don't miss Snoozer in your city.
