Man-Eaters - "Creepy Crawl" | Post-Trash Premiere

by Dan Goldin (@post_trash_)

Equal parts reckless grit and sleazy charm, Chicago’s Man-Eaters pair boogie and decimation, their rock ‘n’ roll a caustic good time. With the band’s third album, Quatro Muchachos, due out October 18th via Feel It Records (CLASS, Qlowski, Disintegration), they’ve come to shred and there’s little that can stop them. This is primal, sweaty, liquor soaked punk rock as though it had been laid to waste by the rawest of 70’s stoned fuzz miscreants… but Man-Eaters weren’t around then, they’re here now, and their psychedelic hard rock takes no prisoners. If you let their new album’s bio tell it, the band have “changed the lives of Rockers for more than four years plus” as they “unite people of all ages and backgrounds in a worldwide community, providing them with motivation and inspiration to achieve their dreams”. Grandiose and tonguq-in-cheek in all aspects, there’s no denying the band are having a blast and it’s contagious throughout the sordid stumble of Quatro Muchachos.

“Creepy Crawl” comes out swinging for the fences, the wah-wah pedal riff and the density of the rhythm section is brash and nasty, a bar room brawl instilled into one greasy punk tune. Like chemtrails that never seem to fade, the band surge through distortion and a relentless shred, the momentum barreling down on us all like a freight train of bad taste (in the best of ways). Deviants rejoice, the “Creepy Crawl” is an acid fueled ripper, full of rough swagger and pounding grooves, a slithering and energetic paean to excess. As mentioned, Man-Eaters sound elated to swarm and shuffle with such abandon, creating music for anyone with a pulse.

Speaking about the song, Nathan Gattis shared:

“You can credit this song to band member drugface for lyrics/music. Wax poetic on “Creepy Crawl”? Always aspire for more than you think you’re capable of. Don’t be hindered or held back by a lack of enthusiasm for life. Wasted time on Negativity and self doubt will never lead you to being The Magus of your own cult. You just find yourself in a band. Follow your heart my children.”
