As we all head into the weekend, we’re happy to share a few of our favorite new releases, out this week (in splendid alphabetical order). The write-ups are all kept brief and bite sized, snippets to catch your interest. There’s a lot of great music out every week and these are just some of the many we think you should check out.

From the charismatic vocals to the clean yet tangled guitars, there's a lot to love about Artificial Go's tightly coiled post-punk. Hopscotch Fever, the Cincinnati band's debut album is skeletal in terms of production, serving their acerbic twists and knotted grooves. Raw, cutting, and undeniably endearing, the album colors outside the lines as they ooze personality.

The legendary anarcho punk art rock visionaries Dog Faced Hermans released their final studio album, Those Deep Buds thirty years ago. Today the album returns "Rebalanced & Remastered," sounding as striking and forward thinking today as it was in 1994. A mix of post-punk, no wave, avant-garde, and damaged jazz, they band splattered their influences into vivid and corrosive punk abstraction.

Since their debut EP cemented them as a band to watch, Dummy have been weaving around their art pop core, blending retro futuristic dream pop, lounge indebted reverb drifts, and shoegaze into a soft out of focus bliss. Free Energy marks a decidedly pronounced shift in their sound while retaining the foundation of their past. It’s a lively record, built on rhythmic momentum, adopting the jangle and spirit of the “baggy” scene.

UK post-punk duo Freak Genes return with Delirik, warping their already sordid brand of electronic punk into a deranged industrial disco nightmare. The record is caustic and unpredictable like a glitch in the matrix, clamoring and discombobulated with harsh synths and joyful programmed chaos.
Anti Records

Manning Fireworks, MJ Lenderman's fourth solo record, finds him delving into the folkier territories of his masterful oeuvre. He pulls back a little on the sonic explosions his previous solo releases to hone in on honest expressions of devotion while maintaining his wit and guile. Lenderman continues to establish himself as a songwriter that has a knack for maintaining a striking intensity while refusing to abandon his humor. - Kris Handel

The unstoppable Party Dozen can do it all. Crime In Australia, their fourth album, finds the Sydney based duo blasting between skronky post-punk, noise rock, free jazz, art punk, and damaged psych. Nothing is off limits as wailing and distorted sax collides headfirst with their impenetrable rhythms. Brilliantly pounding and convulsing, it's one of the year's most mesmerizing gems.
Topshelf Records

Los Angeles' Peel Dream Magazine have hit their sweet spot on Rose Main Reading Room, their fourth album of skittering dream pop and lush jazzy art rock. Driving yet meditative, this album rewards deep listening with an immaculate attention to detail, pairing together kaleidoscopic space age warmth and a gentle psychedelic glow.

Barcelona's Prison Affair continue to be everyone's favorite "egg punk" band as they wrap up their demo series with the great Demo 4, a twitchy dose of weird and psychedelic punk that wiggles into some of the most focused melodic hooks we've ever heard from the band. Jittery rhythms and sun-spotted production are given more clarity than ever before without losing their alien magic.

She Keeps Bees' fourth album, Eight Houses, turns ten this year. To celebrate, the band are sharing a collection of demos and live recordings of the record's songs. As an album that marked a shift in their production aesthetic (while retaining the stregth and beauty of Jessica Larrabee's voice), it's great to hear how the songs evolved.
Rack Off Records / Drunken Sailor
Bandcamp | Spotify | Apple
Following a run of great EPs, a split with Future Suck, and a few standalone singles, Melbourne hardcore band SHOVE release AGENCY, their relentless full length debut. Like a jackhammer to the face, there's nothing subtle about the band's blistering indignation toward the patriarchy and oppression in all forms.

Weak Signal feel as though they arrived from the smoky shadows of a Brooklyn often considered to be long gone. Their latest album, Fine, is relatively brighter, droning and stomping with a raw minimalism, detached attitude, and drop out charm. The bleak and barebones compositions allow every surge of distortion and wilted harmony to hit that much harder. Tune in and zone out.
Strange Mono Records

Philadelphia's Webb Chapel have never sounded better than they do on World Cup, a record of swarming and dissonant alternative rock, brash and noisy, yet deeply melodic. The once solo project of Zack Claxton has expanded into a full band (including Nine of Swords' Rachel Gordon), allowing the group's sound to evolve, splintering deeper into their spiraling distortion with a radiant density.
Trap Set International

Whisper States is a new solo project from Chad Molter, best known for Faraquet, Medications, and as a member of Mary Timony's band. His self-titled debut album is gorgeous, an airy blend of psych folk and soft AM gold prog. A great listen from start to finish, Molter's music is both complex and breezy, the song's well crafted and easy to get lost in.
