As we all head into the weekend, we’re happy to share a few of our favorite new releases, out this week (in splendid alphabetical order). The write-ups are all “tweet sized,” kept brief in the tradition of our old new release thread. There’s a lot of great music out every week and these are but some of the many we think you should check out.

Just in time for the band's upcoming UK / European tour, Melbourne punk trio CLAMM return with Disembodiment, a new EP recorded over a whirlwind two days while previously in the Netherlands. The hard charging record is bent with adrenaline and political fury, a conscious record that feels both the apprehension, agitation, and futility in modern existence as the world crumbles around us.

The magic of Fatboi Sharif's experimental rhymes lie in the details, his vision clouded by shadows, the sound wavering and entrenched in heavy disorientation. His latest EP, Psychedelics Wrote The Bible, pairs Sharif together with fellow hip-hop absurdist (and Backwoodz labelmate) Duncecap on the beats, giving us another surreal journey into a sordid and manipulated reality.

Hailing from Baltimore, Gloop are one of noise rock's best kept secrets, but should be a household name (at least among fans of the genre). Tension, their latest EP proves the the trio are continuing to evolve, embracing a cataclysmic low end while letting the chaos and depravity do so much of the heavy lifting. They're coming increasingly unglued, much to everyone's benefit.

It’s been nine years since the last Lilacs & Champaign record, but the duo of Emil Amos and Alex Hall (who both play in Grails) are back at it, blending instrumental hip-hop production aesthetics with their own eerie psychedelic touch to create something that feels beamed in from another planet. Fantasy World rests upon a cryptic sense of dread, but there's a cosmic vibe to be found in the swirling patchwork.

Five years after the dissolution of Zula, Nate Terepka's back in the swing of things on Not Yet, a new solo album that captures the prismatic nature of his songs as they reflect joy and anguish in equal measure. The record maps the unexpected end of a long term relationship, but you’d hardly know it, the music serving as the glue that’s keeping him together.

Toronto's Niles share their full length debut, Free Lunch, a record of power-pop tunes that hum with distortion and a dense layer of harmonic fuzz. Led by Ryan Naray (Animal Faces, Chris, Fond, Boiling Hell), it's a behemoth of radiant alternative rock, impressively catchy writing, and sludgy pop hooks captured in all their DIY glory.

Seventeen albums in and NYC's perennial shapeshifters Oneida are still finding ways to keep us all on our toes. Expensive Air began life with a straightforward skeleton of songs before Oneida contorted, distorted, and rampaged all over that framework. The result is an experimental punk record that rips and squiggles with a gleeful abandon, the band laying waste to pop simplicity with an artful ingenuity.

Three years after the release of the Íngreme, Rio De Janeiro's Oruã return with PASSE, a blissful record of deeply psychedelic fuzz songs and cosmic punk. Consistently punchy and dreamy in equal measure, the band sound energized throughout the record, gliding between warped grooves and guitars thick with a static glow.

RONG, the freaky Massachussets based noise punk quartet, are one of most excited and explosive bands we've come across in a long time. There is no escape from the band's sonic assault on their new live record, Live At New Alliance, captured in studio with an audience in attendance. RONG's freeform twitchy contortions are as astounding as they are deranged. The band make chaotic music that's brilliant, focused yet unhinged.
