As we all head into the weekend, we’re happy to share a few of our favorite new releases, out this week (in splendid alphabetical order). The write-ups are all “tweet sized,” kept brief in the tradition of our old new release thread. There’s a lot of great music out every week and these are but some of the many we think you should check out.

Canadian death metal trio Adversarial come foaming out of the mouth from the opening moment of Solitude with the Eternal... and things never really let up until the album ends. Twisting and complex, the band combine skull shattering tempos with cavernous low end and putrid vocals to create an impossibly dense landscape of catastrophic and apocalyptic waste.

In dire need of tranquility? Renowned composers Akira Kosemura and Lawrence English team up to create Selene, a stunning set of meditative neo-classical drift, comprised of piano and gentle electronics. Cosmically anchored but calming in every sense, it's a welcome escape from the volume of the outside world, a chance to form new perceptions.

Did You Get Better, the debut album from Chicago's Babe Report's is built on non-stop rippers, blasting with fuzzy riffs and pounding drums. Blending together post-punk and basement pop, they've made a record splattered with instantly memorable hooks as they tear between the sweetly melodic and blown out shredding.
Temporary Residence / Invada Records

>>>> is primed to move between hypnotic boogie on tracks like “The Seal” and “Ah Yeh” and the band’s more meditative side captured on “Denim” and “Cellophane,” skittering between a sense of wonder and dread in equal measure. For every buoyant drift into mesmerizing territory, there’s also a cataclysmic counterpoint and a brain melting groove (seriously, give Billy Fuller his damn flowers).
Legless Records / Drunken Sailor Records
Bandcamp | Spotify | Apple
As far as hardcore records go, Psychic Injury, the latest from Melbourne's Cutters is exceedingly dynamic. There are barn burning rippers that pour gasoline on the fire, sludgy dirges of indignation, and moments of sheer beatdown thrashing. The intensity never falters though, as they share their disdain for landlords, corrupt politians, and well... the general public.
Angel Tapes / Fire Talk
Bandcamp | Spotify | Apple
Chicago's Feller, the duo of Pete Willson (Cafe Racer) and Ethan Toenjes (Old Coke) release their debut EP, Universal Miracle Worker, a promising “post everything” record infused with nervy post-punk and mathy post-hardcore to the patience of post-rock, they keep things fluid from track to track, expanding beyond the means of your average duo.
Kill Rock Stars

Following a solo album from Rahill Jamalifard, NYC's Habibi are back with their third full length, Dreamachine, a record built around dreamy psych pop and motorik rhythms. Their debut was fantastic, but the band have come a long way in the year's since, expanding their hypnotic bliss into more experimental territory (while retaining the charm of their magnificent harmonies).
Iron Lung Records

The agitation of No Future's Mirror has reached a boiling point. The Perth based hardcore band won't be suffering any injustices lightly, highlighted throughout a record that's a giant kick in the teeth both sonically and lyrically. The band's fury is captured in exceptionally blistering riffs and an onslaught of stampeding d-beat rhythms.
Meritorio Records
Bandcamp | Spotify | Apple
Ireland's Oh Boland return with new album Western Leisure, the band's third full length (and first for Meritorio), a radiant mix of acerbic post-punk and vibrant power-pop. Built on giant hooks and a strong melodic current, the record's summer arrival feels well timed, the album a soundtrack for late nights and sweltering days.
Post Present Medium
Bandcamp | Spotify | Apple
The Spatulas follow last year's EP with the first full length, Beehive Mind, a record that captures both the beauty and vulnerability in Miranda Soileau-Pratt's minimalist lo-fi punk songs. The once Oregon based band draw upon the glory days of the K Records catalog, the results endearing but also skeletal and willingly abrasive from time to time.
Sacred Bones Records
Bandcamp | Spotify | Apple
Nearly twenty years in and Baton Rouge sludge titans Thou have created what could very well be their most direct and brutal record yet, Umbilical. No strangers to experimentation, the band dig deep in the filth this time around, pummeling and violently raw, a testament to the band's long earned veteran status and adaptability.
Ever/Never Records
Bandcamp | Spotify | Apple
Workers Comp collect their EPs onto a single stunning LP, a musical respite after a long week earning your paycheck. For everyone tired of the grind, the trio provide their own sense of fried lo-fi country, Americana, and folk distilled with the DIY spirit and the fighting spirit of the labor movement.
