As we all head into the weekend, we’re happy to share a few of our favorite new releases, out this week (in splendid alphabetical order). The write-ups are all “tweet sized,” kept brief in the tradition of our old new release thread. There’s a lot of great music out every week and these are but some of the many we think you should check out.

Bloomington's Amy O returns with Mirror, Reflect, a new set of indie pop smash hits that arrives following her entry into motherhood. Fuzzy and full of charm as bright as a solar eclipse, the songs will stick in your memory long after the album is complete, the home recorded sound only complimenting her infectious melodies.

Brooklyn band Climax Landers is back after six years with Zenith No Effects. The beloved group surveys each of their sensibilities to create an irreverent but invigorating record, a hot air balloon of an album, for its memorable cast of characters, big picture lyrics, windy gusts of riffs, and overall zaniness. - Sara Mae

Conway The Machine has always been a rapper with the ability to adapt to his surroundings, but he's at his best when entrenched in the grime. Case in point his new album, Slant Face Killah, a hard as nails record that's most definitely diverse in beat selection, but captures the best of Conway's dangerous side.

Australian hardcore band Extortion aren't wasting any time. Fifteen songs in eight minutes, Threats, the band's latest EP is a blistering blast of raw power violence that leans toward clarity into it's bruising momentum, a record that's far more nuanced than it's velocity might suggest.
Illegally Blind

Lane, the Boston based trio of Wes Kaplan (The Craters), Jolee Gordon, and Julian Fader (Ava Luna) return with Receiver, a buoyant collection of tangled indie rock and inventive art pop. Blending catchy accessibility with knotted technicality, the songs push and pull in a shimmer of unlikely hooks.

Jim White can't be stopped (nor should he be), teaming up again with Marisa Anderson for Swallowtail, a new collaborative album that finds their experimental explorations in symbiosis. Their interplay is calming and meditative, working in gradual movements that feel intuitive (and stunning).
Dynamite Hill

A month after the first installment, musical polymath Pink Siifu is back with his GKFam for GOT FOOD AT THE CRIB'!! VOL.2, a blend of jazzy R&B, introspective hip-hop, vibrant soul, and ethereal soundscapes. Delivered in a stream of conscious like a fever dream, it's warped but cohesive.
Born Losers Records

Sofia Bolt (aka Amelie Rousseaux) returns with her second full length, the gorgeous Vendredi Minuit. The Parisian born, LA based songwriter adds a multitude of depth to her oeuvre, blending together dreamy pop, orchestral psych, and soft lit yé-yé grooves for an ever shifting lounge-tinged drift.
Hardly Art

Brooklyn's youbet return with their highly anticipated second album, Way To Be, a record full of textural layered guitar and beautifully off-kilter melodies. One of the most exciting indie-centric-psych-art-pop bands making music delivers a record meant for attentive headphone listening.
