With a single and an EP already under their belts, San Francisco’s Aluminum are set to release their excellent debut LP via Felte Records. Fully Beat finds the melody-penchant quartet digging further into some of the classic shoegaze sounds and textures they explored so successfully on 2022’s Windowpane EP. Today the band is sharing “Beat,” a shimmering and subtle pop number that gives a great hint of what to expect when Fully Beat is released on May 24th.
Aluminum’s all-star lineup features members of Marbled Eye, Torrey, and Wild Moth. If you’re familiar with any of those projects, give “Beat” a spin. The song captures the most approachable aspects of dream and art pop while placing itself into the rhythmic lineage of songs like My Bloody Valentine’s “Soon” and Chapterhouse’s “Pearl.” It’s those skip-shuffle drums and clear cut guitar hooks that make a song like “Beat” so plain and undeniably good.
This is the second single from Aluminum's upcoming Fully Beat. Keep an ear out for tracks like “Always Here, Never There” and “Call an Angel” when the record is out on 5/24. In the meantime, listen to “Beat” below:
