Here at Post-Trash we are excited to premiere the new video for Nihiloceros’ latest single "Skipper". Directed by Jen Meller, the clip accompanies the storming tenacity and aggressive attitude that pours forth from the roaring beast of a band. Nihiloceros have been treading their path in the NYC punk/underground scene for close to a decade now and haven't lost any of their bite and hostility as the track makes patently clear. Mike Borchardt's pinched vocals power through power chords and charging drums, while giving way to a melodic chorus that breaks up the fury.
Nihiloceros find a way to mix early 80's hardcore ethos with an anthemic beauty driven by keyboard and deft tempo changes adding an unexpected bit of grace and texture. The band clearly show they really are free from the shackles of narrow categorization as a playful and creative edge cuts through the ugliness and disappointments of the outside world in both the song and video. Nihiloceros have delivered one of their poppier and accessible moments as a drool worthy teaser for their upcoming release, Dark Ice Balloons, that you should be sure to keep your eyes peeled for in May, out on Totally Real Records.
