As we all head into the weekend, we’re happy to share a few of our favorite new releases, out this week (in splendid alphabetical order). The write-ups are all kept brief and bite sized, snippets to catch your interest. There’s a lot of great music out every week and these are just some of the many we think you should check out.

It was an interesting week for both surprise and low stakes hip-hop releases, the gem among them is You Only Die 1nce, the latest from Freddie Gibbs. After a major label debut in 2022, he's back in independent mode on a record that finds his lyrics running rampant, his delivery in fluid motion, and all the hard-nosed bars you can want from Gangsta Gibbs at his most unhinged.
P.W. Elverum & Sun

Night Palace, the latest from Mount Eerie finds Phil Elverum embracing his noisiest inclinations and yet the music retains a gentle nature. The eighty minute effort probably isn't for casual fans, but Mount Eerie doesn't really have casual fans. The swarming noise of his experimental folk is engaging, reminiscent of his days in The Microphones, but aged with wisdom.
Feel It / Maple Death
Bandcamp | Spotify | Apple
Three years after Qlowski released Quale Futuro?, their first for Feel It and Maple Death Records, the London based post-punk return with The Wound, a record that feels built on their driving rhythmic pulse, expanding into both brighter and gloomier territory. With warped tape effects, contrasting duel vocals, and a swooning aura, there's an 80's punk aesthetic at the record's core.
Exploding In Sound Records

Thirdface's second full length is without a doubt one of the most interesting hardcore records you'll ever come across, equal parts sheer brutality and mind-splitting brilliance. Ministerial Cafeteria seethes with a rabid aggression and yet the compositions are indebted to art rock and psychedelic noise punk, the abrasion of it all more a means to an end as the band erupt with experimental shifts. Rabbit holes of creative bliss abound, lurking within the chaos and intensity.
Geffen / UMG Recordings
Spotify | Apple
Weezer's self-titled debut, aka "The Blue Album" is a perfect alternative rock record, brilliantly constructed from start to it's most amazing finish. This 30th anniversary reissue is overloaded with material (3+ hours), but includes many long hidden gems, beyond the music that populated Dusty Gems and Raw Nuggets. It's more than anyone needs, but there's some gold in there.
