After five years playing in Boston indie-pop duo Lilith, Hannah Liuzzo was drawn to the West Coast. What started as casual cross country trips became more permanent, as Liuzzo left the East Coast to explore Oregon and California, before eventually settling down in Los Angeles. After a transitional period that tends to come with moving across the country, Liuzzo is back with Little Bit, her brand new solo project. Set to release Talk A Blue Streak, an EP recorded together with Brad Krieger, the sound of the lead single is captivating, residing somewhere between the sugary indie of Lilith and the alt-country emo fuzz of Ratboys.
“Long Drive” is an immediate track, we’re transported into the Little Bit landscape from the very start, the song bopping with pop charm and a soft melodic focus. Liuzzo describes the song as being about “breaking up — with a city, with a version of yourself, with a past identity, from the "known" — and being willing to trust that whatever's around the bend will be fruitful, even if there's pain in the process.” It’s the kind of reassurance that’s necessary when you pick up and leave all you know behind, and it’s ultimately rewarding, because there’s a whole world out there, and it’s clear that Little Bit are ready to make the most of it.
