Get Terry on the phone! Five years on from 2019’s I'm Terry and two years out from Who’s Terry?, the Melbourne supergroup will return with Call Me Terry on April 14th. Today, we’re premiering the video for “Centuries,” the third single from the band’s upcoming record. “Centuries” is a really excellent song—a riveting intro, a nonstop chorus, and remarkably effective melodies—all in a buck fifty. The Solomon Harvey-directed video depicts a masked band of leather-clad toadies terrorizing a guitar player and destroying their home. Our musical hero takes revenge on the wannabe greaser thugs, but not after the demise of an innocent cowboy.
If you’re not familiar with Terry, now is as good a time as any to listen with Call Me Terry on the horizon. If you’re a Post-Trash reader you’re likely to have come across one or two of the projects Terry’s members are a part of: Amy Hill (Constant Mongrel, School Of Radiant Living), Xanthe Waite (Mick Harvey Band, Primo!), Zephyr Pavey (Eastlink, Total Control, Russell St Bombings) and Al Montfort (UV Race, Dick Diver, Total Control). Guitarist/vocalist Xanthe Waite offered a few words on “Centuries”:
"‘Centuries’ is about the link between Capital, military industrial complex, politicians and the law. And how those corrupt influences can be diminished when people work together."
The video really gets that across. Sometimes bullies and bad actors need a good old fashioned “Ka-Pow!” Call Me Terry is out April 14 via Upset the Rhythm / Anti Fade Records.
