Back in May we premiered the excellent double-sided single “Feelin’ Far” b/w “Everybody” from the increasingly prolific Chicago project Old Joy. It’s been a busy year for frontman Alex Reindl, who has since released the band’s Go Away Evil EP while gigging aplenty around the Windy City. Today, we’re excited to premiere the accompanying visuals to “Feelin’ Far,” which stars Goose, Tartaruga, Borboletta, Reindl and the city of Chi-town herself. Directed by Jacob Ernsberger, the video for “Feelin’ Far” captures the spirit of Chicago: the hot and the cold, the big and the small, the living and the dead. Though the song is a meditation on trying too hard, the video effortlessly captures the simple beauty of existing, and “is a reminder that everything lives and everything dies, but not everything tries.”
If you haven’t gotten a chance to check out Old Joy live, the band will be kicking off a quick Midwest-to-East coast tour in mid October with Chicago mainstays Sonny Falls. Venues TBD. Check out those dates and the video for “Feelin’ Far” below.
