Oy mista! It’s Posmic! The Baltimore/DC project formed in late 2019, sticking together through a global pandemic and many, many, wildly convenient MARC train rides. Sun Hymns is the name of their brief and easy debut and today we’re premiering “My Oh Mind,” a warm and steady lo-fi pop number that shows how Posmic makes things look easy. The band’s sauntering guitar rock mimics hazy 60s psych rock with a 90s-cool attitude, and “My Oh Mind” is a modest offering of Sun Hymns’ simple-yet-effective songwriting.
The Sun Hymns version of “My Oh Mind” revamps last October’s scruffier Cold Old Ones mix, bringing Posmic’s bright, sunshine overtones into greater focus. Capturing and combining the aesthetics of multiple eras in lo-fi pop, the band’s pleasant mix of influence plays out like a carefree stroll or a nostalgic daydream on a blue sky afternoon. Posmic serves as a more personal songwriting project for Post Pink members David Van and Emily Ferarra, the pair often trading vocal duties on songs like the one we’re sharing today. Check out “My Oh Mind” below and be sure to check out Sun Hymns when it releases on Let’s Pretend Records this Friday, March 11th.
