CS Cleaners - "Income Pain" | Post-Trash Premiere

by Dan Goldin (@post_trash_)

Brooklyn DIY label DIM Things kicked off back in 2019, concluding their first year with DIM COMP Vol. 1, a charity compilation with both bands on the label and friends in the community. In the years since they’ve released been busy working with plenty of local bands are keeping the compilation series going. DIM COMP Vol. 3 is due out on February 4th, featuring new music from Dig Nitty, Josephine Network, Scoutt Gillett, Petite League, Karaoke Mood Killer, and more, with all proceeds going to The Ridgewood Tenants Union. RTU is an all volunteer and tenant-led anti-gentrification group whose mission is to grow the power of tenants in Ridgewood to collectively fight displacement. They also run a mutual aid network to support neighbors through food distro, a community fridge, and homeless outreach.

The compilation’s first single comes courtesy of CS Cleaners, a new band featuring Adam Sierz (Should've, Spirit Lust), Ben Petrisor (Free $$$), Sergio Falvo (DIM Things), and Jacob Saxton (Bad Kiss, DIM Things). “Income Pain” is their debut single and it’s one hell of an introduction. Influenced by noise rock, post-punk, and hardcore, the band dive right in to a refreshingly sordid basement punk sound. It’s raw, discordant, and acerbic as the band convulse around the noise soaked groove. There’s a clever sensibility to the lyrics doubled meanings, delivered with a fittingly deranged vocal performance, unglued from the beginning and increasingly unglued by the end.
