Baltimore duo Caution are getting ready to release their self-titled sophomore EP. Due out this coming Friday, February 19th, via the great Born Yesterday Records (Moontype, Dummy, Stuck), the pair have created an album that is pop at its core, but buzzing with fuzz, noise, and psychedelic shoegaze swells. The spirit and influence of The Jesus & Mary Chain runs deep in the band’s songwriting, with the blistering pop of Psychocandy a blueprint for how to create something both dreamy and distorted. The band has definitely studied the source material and now they’re arrived to bend and recreate it in their own way.
Following the release of “Buy My Life,” we’re excited to share the band’s latest single, “Swallow.” The song opens with a soft and hazy swoon. It’s a bit fuzzy and a lot dreamy, like a head full of clouds and an atmosphere that drifts on forever. They weave into a bit of distorted crunch and the occasional guitar lead, but this song is content to reveal in a gentle aura. Caution find a state of calm that sits like a weighted blanked, free to disruption and abrasion.
