It’s been two years since Adir L.C. released the gorgeous Basket Star album, a record that focused on his stand-out songwriting capabilities with songs like “Big Bad” and "Best Version.” Since then Adir has left Brooklyn for Tel Aviv, but recorded one more EP with Shea Stadium’s own Adam Reich before heading out of town. The band recorded the basics right as the pandemic was forming and sent files back and forth to complete the record once quarantine hit. The results are Future, Tense. (due out February 18th), a new collection of songs that capture that same cool charm Adir L.C. has become known for.

The song opens with a quick and woozy acoustic guitar progression before Adir and the band - comprised of Chris Daley and Danny Nosonowitz - slide in together. There’s a great slinky groove deeply rooted in the otherwise dreamy atmosphere, the whole thing swarming with a welcoming and relaxed vibe. Adir addresses that the future is tense, but decides to close his eyes and drift away instead, pulling toward a meditative calm. The song swells big enormous harmonies and guest vocals from Ami Madeleine. It’s AM gold in the best way, and Adir L.C. continues to write songs with an accomplished sense of grace and earworm melodies at every turn.
