Hello! Hi! Please don’t sleep on Spring Silver again. I’ve gushed about them once and I’m gonna do it again! Today Post-Trash is premiering a new track from the brainchild of Silver Springer K Nkaza. The song is called “Set Up A Camera” and it’s pretty wild. Not a lot of people are making the kind of music Nkaza is making right now. Her self-described queer metal/they/them-core/post-emo tunes shuffle prog, nu metal and “alternative rock” with taste and grace. This new track reminds me of Incubus’ best bits more than anything else, and that is A-OK by me.
“Set Up A Camera” was written over the course of a few months while Nkaza was living in their family’s home. From her mouth to your ears: “It's about channeling the loneliness and paranoia of both quarantine and modern life pre-quarantine into desperate sexual yearning.” Nice! This track has an incredibly strong chorus, is impeccably produced and is hopefully our first hint at a new Spring Silver release. K Nkaza’s been collaborating with some top dogs of the North Eastern-ish indie rock sphere. In late 2020 they released the double A-side single “Plead Insanity” with Sadie Dupuis and Bartees Strange and this new track features drums from Theo Hartlett. Hopefully there will be more fruitful collaborations like this one in the future. Check out “Set Up A Camera” below and keep a lookout for Spring Silver in the new year and all the years after that.
