If you’ve paid any attention over the past decade, you already know that Lily Konisberg is an incredibly profilic songwriter. While best known for her work in Palberta, Konisberg has been on a steady tear between solo recordings and Lily & Horn Horse, as well as features among peers. She’s adept at creating outsider pop as would be radio smash hits. Now Konigsberg has teamed up with LUCY, the long running project of Western MA’s Cooper Handy. Together as Lily / Lucy, the duo will release their self titled collaborative debut via Good Flavor (Masters of Fright, Sweet Baby Jesus). Over the span of eight tracks and fourteen minutes, they create bedroom pop with an ode to post-punk grooves and lo-fi skeletal beats.

“Big Wish” is the album’s first single, setting the tone for the album with it’s simple synth construction and programmed drums that bring electronic music to DIY charm. Lily and Lucy trade vocals back and forth, their voices completing each other as they both offer smooth melodies, repeating lines with pop grace. It feels kinda 80’s, kinda futuristic, and also rooted right in place in 2020 as we all dream of being anywhere else.
