The good folks over at Steakhouse Records have released a massive new compilation, You’re Gonna Be Great, with all the proceeds to benefit IntegrateNYC, a youth-led organization that stands for integration and equity in New York City schools. It’s good music for a good a cause, and there’s nearly three hours of new songs for you to enjoy, with all sorts of sounds and styles. I’ve already found a slew of new bands I’d never heard of with great entries, and I’m sure you will too. That’s really all you can ask for from a compilation.
There’s familiar faces and new face alike, including Screaming Females, Steve Hartlett (of Ovlov/Stove), Slight Of, Snakeskin, Gabby’s World, Painted Zeros, Washer, SIGNAL, Bethlehem Steel’s Becca Ryskalczyk and Christina Puerto, Franz Charcoal (aka Frankie Cosmos), Groupie (with an awesome post-punk song sung in Polish), Long Beard, Jack, and so much more. This is also my introduction to ZOOMDWEEBY, Mallory Hawk, Doorstopper, Holly & The Nice Lions, and Matty Anne, all of which have excellent songs. It’s an exploration that keeps giving and giving, so be sure to donate and help their cause.
