It’s no surprise that Trouble In Mind Records have been one of the most reliably great labels for the past few years and 2020 is no different. While the year is young, the label have already released or announced albums from FACS, Sunwatchers, En Attendant Ana, Lithics, and Pamplona, Spain’s own Melenas. Set to release their sophomore album (and first for the US label) on May 8th (digitally) and June 5th (physical), the record is swarming with a warm mix of harmonized garage pop, shoegaze tinged fuzz, and head-in-the-clouds dream-pop. It’s a welcome listen, one that’s full of hook filled songwriting and an open airiness that feels like a breathe of fresh air. The world feels limitless when listening to Dias Raros, even if the record is about “those days where you spend more time inside than outside. Inside your own self, inside your bedroom and your own universe thinking about your wishes, dreams, memories, obsessions or fears.”

Having shared their great first single “3 Segundos” with an equally great music video, we’re excited to premiere the band’s latest, “No Puedo Pensar”. While their lead single bounced with an undeniable kraut-pop energy (recalling Stereolab and Broadcast at times), the follow up, while still motorik in rhythm, is a bit more subdued in it’s hypnotic groove… though only slightly. Replacing one mesmerizing trance with another, “No Puedo Pensar” whips it’s guitars into the lush and layered shoegaze territory, blanketing the mix with a shimmering sparkle of swirling chord progressions that blur into one another with a jangly resolve. The video features a lot of fun in the outdoors… and we’ll get back to that one of these days.
