Seattle-based trio Heavy Petting are gearing up for a quick Northwest run this week in support of their new EP, and we’ve got first dibs. Get your ladle out - Adult Program is thick rock; a hearty cluster of tracks filled with Cambell’s Chunky soup type riffs. Big, big rock - it’s clear the band hasn’t skipped a beat since 2017’s rippling Rock Plus+. Adult Program is a viscous mix of noodly post-rock and dense instrumental work, Heavy Petting’s trademark since their humble four-track beginnings. Evans to Betsy - that string work! Evan Anderson (guitar) and Evan Easthope (bass) work in tandem, complementary melodic constituents that weave between Derek Blackstone’s engulfing percussion.
If Adult Program were a soup, it’d be a stocky stew. Blackstone brings the saucy broth, Easthope supplies the braised meat and diced potatoes, Anderson with the essential veggies - carrots, celery, onions, you name it. Dead Definition is the host of this potluck dinner, label home to acts like Sadurn, Noera, Ther, Manuka and more. Check out our exclusive premiere of Adult Program below, and if you’re in the top left corner of the United States, be sure to catch Heavy Petting on their mini-tour in Seattle and Oregon. Please, be kind to your ears and bring some plugs.
