Galore’s self titled debut album is a breath of fresh air. The album was released in June, on Rocks In Your Head Records and produced by Sonny Smith of Sonny & The Sunsets. The San Francisco indie-pop band showcases a 90s D.I.Y. aesthetic unique to the west coast —churning along with a breezy sensibility. The lo-fi simplicity is familiar, and the four piece weave an optimism throughout the album that is both childlike and wise. Their Bandcamp page states “We all sing sometimes” which seems more like a charming philosophy than a description of the lineup.

The second track on the album,“Lemon Tree,” puts you at ease with gentle vocals. “In My Head” is a catchy over-thinkers anthem, while “Henry” seems to flip a switch half way through the album — guiding you into slightly faster paced punk leaning tracks. The album concludes with the dreamy “Deja Vu” and the victorious “Silence”. This debut generously places you in a simpler time of zines and basement shows, and cannot help but remind you of the hope that community can provide.
