It’s no secret the folks here at Post-Trash are Rachel Brown’s number one fans. We’re pretty sure their hyper-prolific bedroom pop moniker Thanks for Coming is the most reviewed band in Post-Trash history. That being said, there’s another Thanks for Coming record on the way and it’s a doozy. Today, we’re thrilled to be premiering the new video for “stagnant,” the first single from the upcoming to be honest, i was lying.
Shot by Ana Fangayen with additional footage from Isaac Berner, “stagnant” features scenes in and around New York City, showing off the many sides of Rachel Brown through a series of wardrobe and location changes. There’s Rachel Brown the businessman, Rachel Brown the frequenter of overpasses and Rachel Brown the off-season beach bum! Brrr! As for the track itself, it’s one of the most charismatic Thanks for Coming songs to date, featuring a skipping backing track and blunt vocals from the singer who pointedly asks: “you’ve been contacted by /the very people you despise/so what are you gonna say to them?”
I’m excited for fans both old and new to get their ears on the new Thanks for Coming; it’s very good. To be honest, i was lying will be out on Barcelona’s Beauty Fool Records on November 27. The album will be limited to 50 cassettes, so grip a tape ASAP and check out the video for “stagnant” below:
