“Dozer” is the perfect weird-yet-accessible peak into the world of multi-faceted LA artist Kaz Mirblouk. On Careless by Contrast, the veteran of many celebrated projects that have toured the globe, Mirblouk takes the opportunity to find his own voice by picking apart elements of a multitude of genres as he sees fit and weaving them into a kaleidoscopic vision all his own that’s as delirious as it is strangely warm and inviting. The opening riff would fit seamlessly on any stoner doom track before giving way to Mirblouk’s blissful vocal melody backed by strummed acoustic guitars that sounds as pretty as anything on the shoegaze and dream pop spectrum. The clever songwriter’s ability to seamlessly balance his aggression with sweetness and memorable hooks before fading out with a hypnotic outro that would make Can proud brings his music to life.
The lead single’s accompanying video is complete with animation by Rob Fidel that cleverly ebbs and flows with the ever-changing energy of the song. Psychedelic renderings of desert landscapes and the vastness of outer space and an ever-winking eye make an appropriate backdrop for the songwriter’s mercurial songwriting. This perfect pairing of artistic mediums marks the duo as exciting names to watch in their respective fields. Here’s hoping for more collaborations in the future.
