Following a string of releases with Danger Collective including 2018’s Crush-Hi, Airhead DC return with a brand new EP, Busted Sermon, an expansive swirl of warped lo-fi psych and homegrown bedroom pop. The solo project of Vishal Narang has steadily grown over the years to include new influences and sounds, his efforts unafraid of dipping into territory less traveled. Set for release on December 15th via Oof Records (Harley Alexander, Carmen Canedo), the NY via DC musician’s latest record feels delightfully washed out in calm and surreal atmospheres.
“Condo 2” is the record’s first single, recorded to four-track tape in Brooklyn during a time of solitude for Narang. The song itself reflects on society’s constant hunger for more, that drive to extend wealth and possessions, even as others are in need with much less. It’s a cautionary tale of trying to fill that void with commerce, but Airhead DC take it with an upbeat grace, built on programmed drums and synths that float peacefully beneath Narang’s vocals.
