Just when it feels like our heads will explode and blood will coming pouring out our eyes, Lisa/Liza announced her new album, and we can all share a collective sigh of relief. Shelter of a Song, due out November 20th via Orindal Records (Gia Margaret, Wednesday, Ruth Garbus) shines with its own dim lit glow and comfort that comes from a place of patience and introspection. Built on an ever growing stretch of atmosphere and spacious delivery, Liza Victoria’s songs look into the depths of mourning and loss, reworking those feelings into a meditative beauty, full of reflection and a mesmerizing folk splendor. It’s heavy in terms of emotional weight, but all around stunning and full of welcome calm.

“Red Leaves” is the record’s second single, a slow progression that begins with gentle acoustic guitars, played softly and with nuance. With each note that rings above the rest, the grip tightens, pulling us closer into the sentiment, every intentional accent is felt. With an easy melody to drift right into, Liza Victoria’s warm voice sings between hushed lullaby and whispered croon, with an unwavering strength behind each extended vocal line. It’s designed so you can sink right in, escape the world around us, and give complete focus to her words and composition, building ever so slightly toward a beautiful crescendo. There’s nowhere else we’d rather be.

Speaking about the track, Liza Victoria shared:

"Red Leaves is most prominently about loss and the pain that comes with it. While most of this album I wouldn’t say had specific influences this one was influenced some by Mt. Eerie and probably Michael Hurley too. But most of all it is a song about a feeling, It is about acknowledging the pain that remains, instead of running from it or trying to escape it, and the experience that is  learning to live with that."
