It’s been five long years since Brooklyn’s Green and Glass released their debut single but the band (which can feature as many as seven members within their ranks) are ready for their proper introduction. Set to release their self-titled full length debut, the project led by Lucia Stavros on harp and vocals, with David Flaherty (Cuddle Magic), Ryan Dugre (Landlady), Andrew McGovern, and Sam Decker (Secret Sibling), have shared two singles “14 Hours” and “Black Hole” and we’re excited to premiere their latest, “Gabriel,” a majestic pop song that soars far beyond this realm.

With their album due out on February 14th via 11A Records (Star Rover, Golden Dawn Arkestra, Benjamin Lazar Davis), Green and Glass occupy a dazzling and unique space between orchestral beauty, studied precision, and evocative pop exploration. “Gabriel” is a fantastic example, opening with a serene harp progression that lends itself gorgeously to Stavros’ gentle vocals. The finger plucked strings offer a sense of the surreal, but the melody hints at something familiar (I can’t place it… but it’s on the tip on my tongue). The song patiently evolves, slowly swirling into new textures as the rhythm section, horns, and electronic touches twinkle vividly in stunning synchronicity.

Speaking about the song, the band shared:

“Gabriel is about a figure that follows you around, absorbing some of what the world throws at you, like a hobbled guardian angel. Slightly mysterious, and always in the peripheral, it depicts an avatar of the mundane and profound. A pastoral epic, with perhaps the broadest scope of any song on the record, Gabriel finds its center in the interwoven guitar and harp ostinato which serves as the base for layers and layers of sound, all moving towards the joyous final chorus which is equally bright and heavy.”
